What is included

How we carry out washing machine cleaning
A washing machine that smells is usually holding water somewhere. In a front loader the rubber door seal has a fold at the bottom that traps lint, hair and a little grey water after every wash, and black mould grows in it. The detergent drawer and the dark housing behind it build up softener sludge. Low temperature washes and heavy softener use add to it. Hard desalinated water then lays limescale on the drum and heater, which gives the dirt something to grip.
The seal is peeled back fold by fold and cleaned with a mould remover suited to rubber, then rinsed and dried. The detergent drawer comes out for scrubbing, and the housing is cleaned with a long brush. The drain pump filter, usually behind a small flap at the front, is opened over towels and a tray, emptied of lint and the odd coin, then refitted. A hot empty cycle with a descaler follows.
