What is included
Interior and exterior painting by our own painters, with surfaces properly prepared, furniture fully protected and wet film thickness checked on every coat. A good paint finish is mostly preparation. Dubai walls move with heat, hairline cracks open at ceiling joints, and coastal air and irrigation mark exterior walls within a few seasons. We repair and prime before we paint, apply the system named in your quotation and leave the home clean enough to move straight back into.
- Moisture meter readings taken to map the damp area
- Blistered paint and soft, salty plaster hacked off
- Wall left to dry, then the salt bloom brushed away dry
- Salt resistant plaster or sealer applied before repainting
How we carry out damp wall treatment
Treatment follows the cause. Once the source is traced and stopped, the damaged paint and any soft plaster are removed to roughly half a metre beyond the visible mark, because salts travel further than the stain. The wall is left open to dry, helped by air movement, and the white salt bloom is brushed off dry. Deep damage is rebuilt with a salt resistant renovating plaster; shallow damage is sealed with an alkali resistant primer. A breathable paint goes on last so remaining moisture can leave through the surface.
In Dubai the usual sources are irrigation soaking the base of a garden wall, a leaking pipe inside a wet wall, AC condensate lines that drip inside a ceiling void, and failed waterproofing on a balcony or roof. Ground water here is salty, so the damage looks like blistering paint with white crystals behind it. Painting over it with a waterproof coating traps the water and pushes the damage higher. The site visit uses a moisture meter to map the wall and inspects what lies on the other side.
How it works
The same method on every job, so the result does not depend on who is on shift.
- Survey, colour and written scope. We measure, test the existing coating and agree colours, sheen and the number of coats. The written quotation names the paint system and the scope.
- Protection. Furniture is moved and wrapped, floors are covered edge to edge, and switches, handles and light fittings are masked or removed.
- Surface preparation. Walls are washed, flaking paint is scraped back, cracks are opened and filled, and everything is sanded flat. Damp or salt affected areas are treated before any paint goes on.
- Primer and finish coats. A sealer or primer suited to the substrate is followed by two finish coats. Wet film thickness is checked on every coat.
- Snagging and handover. We inspect in daylight with you, touch up, clean down and hand over a paint schedule listing brand, colour codes and batch numbers for future touch ups.

Questions about damp wall treatment
What does damp wall treatment include?
Damp walls are treated by finding where the water comes from, removing salt damaged plaster, letting the wall dry and rebuilding it with materials that tolerate moisture. The work includes moisture meter readings taken to map the damp area; blistered paint and soft, salty plaster hacked off; wall left to dry, then the salt bloom brushed away dry.
Can damp just be sealed and painted over?
Sealing alone rarely lasts. If water is still entering, a waterproof paint holds it in the wall until the pressure lifts the coating, often higher than before. The source has to be stopped first, whether it is a pipe, irrigation or waterproofing, and then the wall repaired.
How long must the wall dry before it is repainted?
That depends on thickness and how wet it was. A thin plaster patch can be ready in a few days with good air movement, while a soaked block wall may need weeks. We go by meter readings, not the calendar, and repaint once they have fallen and stayed down.
How much does damp wall treatment cost in Dubai?
We do not publish prices, because no two jobs are the same. The main factors: wall and ceiling area and ceiling height; condition of the surface and how much repair is needed. Book a site visit: a supervisor from The MELLS looks at the work and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before anything begins.
Who provides damp wall treatment in Dubai?
The MELLS provides damp wall treatment in Dubai. The work is carried out by people The MELLS employs directly, under a named supervisor, 08:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday. To arrange it, book a site visit on this page or call +971 55 444 0084.
How long does damp wall treatment take?
Usually one to three days, confirmed with the quotation.
How many coats do you apply?
A primer or sealer where the surface needs it, then two finish coats. Strong colour changes may need a third coat, which is stated in the quotation.
Which paint brands do you use?
We apply the paint system named in your quotation. Most clients choose premium washable emulsions from the major brands stocked in Dubai, and we are happy to work with paints specified by your designer.
How do you protect furniture and floors?
Furniture is moved to the centre of the room and wrapped. Floors are covered edge to edge, and fittings are masked or removed. The crew cleans down every day.
Do you repair cracks and damp patches before painting?
Yes. Cracks are opened, filled and sanded, and damp or salt affected plaster is treated and sealed first. Painting over a defect only hides it for a few months.
How long before the paint is fully dry?
Water based emulsion is touch dry in about an hour and can be recoated in around four hours. It reaches full hardness over two to four weeks, so avoid scrubbing new walls in that time.
Do we need to move out while you paint?
No. We work room by room with low odour water based paints, and bedrooms are usable again the same night.
How do I choose a company for damp wall treatment in Dubai?
Ask four things: who employs the people who will come, whether the scope is written down before work starts, how the result is checked, and what happens if something is missed. The MELLS uses its own staff, quotes in writing after a site visit, checks every job (wet film thickness checked on every coat and an adhesion test at handover) and puts right any failed check free of charge within 48 hours.
How do I prepare for damp wall treatment?
Remove pictures, small items and valuables from the rooms. Floors and furniture are covered by the crew, and larger pieces are moved where the scope says so.
Do I need to provide any products or equipment?
No. Products, tools and machines come with the crew. Any materials the job needs, such as paint or parts, are listed in the written quotation.
What if I am not happy with the result?
Tell the supervisor at handover or call us. Anything that fails our check is put right free of charge within 48 hours.
