How we carry out AC capacitor and contactor testing
Two small parts in the outdoor unit cause many summer breakdowns. The run capacitor helps the compressor and fan motor start and keep turning, and it weakens with heat, often without any sign until the fan stops spinning. The contactor is the switch that brings the outdoor unit on when the thermostat calls; its contact points burn and pit each time it closes.
