How we carry out FAHU filter servicing and replacement
A fresh air handling unit pulls outside air through its filters, cools and dries it, then feeds it to the rooms or corridors. In Dubai that outside air carries a lot of fine sand, so the filter bank does the hard work. Pre filters, the washable panels at the front, catch the coarse dust. Bag filters behind them catch the finer particles. When either loads up, airflow drops, the fan works harder and unfiltered air can slip around a frame that no longer seals.
With the unit isolated, the supervisor reads the pressure gauge across the filters if one is fitted, then opens the access doors. Pre filters are slid out, vacuumed and washed from the clean side, and dried fully before going back in, since damp media grows mould. Bag filters are not washable, so they are inspected for loading and tears and replaced when they are spent. Frames and seals are checked so air cannot bypass them. A record of the work and the readings is left for the building.
