UV lamps fitted inside a ducted AC unit or air handler shine on the cooling coil and drain pan to slow growth there. We fit and wire them to cut out when the panel opens. The work includes unit surveyed for space, coil face size and a safe lamp position; lamps mounted to light the coil face and the drain pan; power wired through an interlock so the lamps cut out when opened.

It can help where the smell comes from growth on the coil or drain pan, once those have been cleaned. It will not fix a dry drain trap, dirty ducts or a blocked filter. We find the cause of the smell before suggesting a lamp.
