What is included

Curtains steamed on their tracks and blinds cleaned slat by slat, without the cost and risk of taking them down. Curtains filter the dust that comes through every window and balcony door. We clean them where they hang, so there is no shrinkage, no rehanging and no bare windows.

How we carry out honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning

The blind is lowered fully and vacuumed along the line of the pleats, never across them, with a soft brush and the suction turned down. Honeycomb cells are open at each end and collect dust and dead insects, which are blown out gently from one side towards a vacuum nozzle at the other. Marks are dabbed with a cloth dampened in lukewarm water and a drop of mild detergent, then blotted dry. Polyester blinds whose maker allows it can be taken for immersion cleaning off site and hung to dry fully extended.

Heat is hard on these blinds. They sit close to the glass, often inside the reveal, and in Abu Dhabi the air trapped there gets hot enough to weaken the adhesive lines that hold a honeycomb together, so cells open up or pleats go slack. Wetting a blind in that condition finishes it off. Blackout versions have a foil lining inside the cell that creases permanently if it is squeezed. The site visit checks for failed glue lines, frayed cords and faded fabric, and confirms from the maker label that immersion is allowed.

How it works

The same method on every job, so the result does not depend on who is on shift.

  1. Site visit and written quotation. A supervisor visits, measures and records every room, surface and extra. The written quotation that follows sets out the scope, with no hourly meter and nothing added on the day.
  2. Protect and prepare. Lifts, floors and furniture are protected and delicate finishes are logged on a surface register before any product is opened.
  3. Dry before wet, top before bottom. Dust is lifted with HEPA filtered vacuums from ceilings and fittings downwards. Each zone is then wet cleaned with chemistry matched to its finish.
  4. Detail work and floors. Tracks, switches, skirtings, handles and glass are finished by hand. Floors are machine scrubbed last so nothing is walked back in.
  5. Inspection and report. The supervisor signs all fourteen checks, photographs the result and sends you the report within the hour.

Honeycomb and Pleated Blind Cleaning in Embassies District: what we plan for

The Embassies District, also known as Al Safarat or the Diplomatic Area, lies off Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street towards Al Bateen Executive Airport. Most plots hold embassy buildings and diplomatic residences behind high walls, alongside low and mid rise apartment buildings, with the Rawdhat apartment blocks along the Airport Road side.

Wide roads and open plots let fine sand blow into gardens and across terraces. Embassy buildings and residences often have large stone or tiled entrance areas that show every footprint, and irrigation leaves mineral marks on boundary walls.

Access to embassy premises and diplomatic residences follows the site's own security procedure, confirmed at the site visit, and staff details are sent in advance for clearance. Apartment buildings need a work permit and a service lift booking, and we prepare the paperwork asked for.

What your quotation depends on

A quotation for honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning in Embassies District follows a site visit. The supervisor looks at the points listed here and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before any work begins. Once you accept it, nothing is added on the day.

Questions about honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning in Embassies District

What does honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning include?

Honeycomb and pleated blinds are made of thin bonded or folded fabric that creases and delaminates if soaked. They are vacuumed, blown clear inside the cells and spot cleaned. The work includes pleats vacuumed along the fold with a soft brush at low suction; cells cleared of dust and insects with gentle moving air; marks dabbed with a barely damp cloth and mild detergent.

Can honeycomb blinds be washed?

Some polyester ones can be immersed in cool water, if the maker says so and the glue lines are still sound. Blackout, foil lined and older heat damaged blinds should only be vacuumed and spot cleaned, since soaking them separates the layers.

Why have the pleats in my blind gone slack?

Pleats lose their memory when a blind is left lowered in strong sun for long periods, or when the cord tension has dropped. Keeping the blind raised for a few days can help the folds recover, and slack cords can be retensioned by the handyman team.

How much does honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning cost in Embassies District?

We do not publish prices, because no two jobs are the same. The main factors: size of the property and number of rooms; condition, and how long since the last deep clean. Book a site visit: a supervisor from The MELLS looks at the work and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before anything begins.

Who provides honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning in Embassies District?

The MELLS provides honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning in Embassies District, Abu Dhabi. The work is carried out by people The MELLS employs directly, under a named supervisor, 08:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday. To arrange it, book a site visit on this page or call +971 58 656 3001.

How long does honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning take?

Typically 2 to 4 hours for most homes. The time for your property is confirmed with the quotation.

Is steam safe for blackout and silk curtains?

Blackout linings are cleaned at low temperature. Silk and velvet are cleaned with low moisture methods after a test.

How often should curtains be cleaned?

Once or twice a year in Abu Dhabi, and more often near the coast or next to construction.

Do you take the curtains down?

No. They are cleaned in place, which avoids shrinkage and rehanging. Heavily soiled or lined curtains can be taken for an off site wash if needed.

How do your crews get access to Embassies District?

Access to embassy premises and diplomatic residences follows the site's own security procedure, confirmed at the site visit, and staff details are sent in advance for clearance. Apartment buildings need a work permit and a service lift booking, and we prepare the paperwork asked for.

Do you clean diplomatic residences between postings?

Yes. A handover clean covers the whole house, from AC grilles and kitchen extractors to wardrobes and outdoor areas, with the scope agreed with the house or facilities manager at the site visit.

How do I choose a company for honeycomb and pleated blind cleaning in Embassies District?

Ask four things: who employs the people who will come, whether the scope is written down before work starts, how the result is checked, and what happens if something is missed. The MELLS uses its own staff, quotes in writing after a site visit, checks every job (14 Point Standard signed by the supervisor, with photographs before and after) and puts right any failed check free of charge within 48 hours.

How are visits to Embassies District arranged?

Visits in Abu Dhabi are booked by appointment between 08:00 and 19:00, Monday to Saturday. Call or send the form and we agree the earliest time a supervisor can come to you.
