What is included
Carpet and rug cleaning by fibre. Wool, silk, viscose and synthetic each get their own chemistry and drying time. A hand knotted silk rug and a nylon office carpet have nothing in common except that both hold dust. We identify the fibre and construction first, then choose between shampoo, hot water extraction and low moisture methods so colours stay true and the pile recovers.
- Rug measured and checked for square before cleaning, for comparison after
- Dye test on each colour, especially reds and dark blues
- Cotton dhurries and wool kilims washed with solutions suited to each fibre
- Dried flat with edges eased straight so the rug lies square
How we carry out dhurrie and kilim rug cleaning
A flat weave has no pile to hide dirt in, so sand sits on the surface and the weave itself takes the wear. That makes these rugs easy to vacuum and quick to clean, but cotton and wool react to water in ways a pile rug would hide. The technician measures the rug edge to edge and checks it lies square, because cotton dhurries can shrink and kilims can distort if dried unevenly. Each colour is tested with a damp white cloth. Kilim reds and indigo blues are the most likely to bleed into a pale ground.
Cotton dhurries are washed with a mild detergent and rinsed well, as cotton holds soil and yellows if residue stays in. Wool kilims are washed cooler with a wool safe cleaner. Colours that moved in the test are handled with a dye stabilising rinse and fast drying, or the rug is cleaned by a low moisture method instead. Both kinds are squeegeed and dried flat with fans, never hung, since hanging a wet flat weave stretches it. Edges are eased straight while drying so the rug goes back down square.
How it works
The same method on every job, so the result does not depend on who is on shift.
- Site visit and written quotation. A supervisor visits, measures and records every room, surface and extra. The written quotation that follows sets out the scope, with no hourly meter and nothing added on the day.
- Protect and prepare. Lifts, floors and furniture are protected and delicate finishes are logged on a surface register before any product is opened.
- Dry before wet, top before bottom. Dust is lifted with HEPA filtered vacuums from ceilings and fittings downwards. Each zone is then wet cleaned with chemistry matched to its finish.
- Detail work and floors. Tracks, switches, skirtings, handles and glass are finished by hand. Floors are machine scrubbed last so nothing is walked back in.
- Inspection and report. The supervisor signs all fourteen checks, photographs the result and sends you the report within the hour.

Dhurrie and Kilim Rug Cleaning in Al Barsha: what we plan for
Al Barsha combines streets of large private villas in Al Barsha 2 and 3 with the apartment buildings of Al Barsha 1 around Mall of the Emirates. Barsha Heights is a district of residential and office towers, and Al Barsha South includes Arjan, Dubai Science Park and the Villa Lantana compounds. The MELLS office is in Barsha Heights.
Sheikh Zayed Road and Hessa Street carry heavy traffic, so an oily film builds on road facing glass and sills. City dust enters through the AC and settles on high ledges.
Villas are on open streets. Towers in Barsha Heights and Al Barsha 1 need a work permit and a service lift booking, which we arrange.

Questions about dhurrie and kilim rug cleaning in Al Barsha
What does dhurrie and kilim rug cleaning include?
Flat woven cotton dhurries and wool kilims are tested for shrinkage and dye bleed, cleaned to their fibre and dried flat so they keep their shape and lie square. The work includes rug measured and checked for square before cleaning, for comparison after; dye test on each colour, especially reds and dark blues; cotton dhurries and wool kilims washed with solutions suited to each fibre.
Will my cotton dhurrie shrink when it is washed?
Cotton can shrink a little. We measure before washing, wash cool, and dry the rug flat with its edges eased straight, which keeps it close to its original size. A rug that has shrunk before, or tests badly, is cleaned by a low moisture method instead.
Why does a kilim need to be dried flat?
A wet kilim is heavy and the weave is fairly loose, so hanging it pulls the warps and the rug dries longer and narrower, sometimes with wavy edges. Drying flat with fans keeps the weave square and stops dye from running down to one end.
How much does dhurrie and kilim rug cleaning cost in Al Barsha?
We do not publish prices, because no two jobs are the same. The main factors: size of the property and number of rooms; condition, and how long since the last deep clean. Book a site visit: a supervisor from The MELLS looks at the work and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope before anything begins.
Who provides dhurrie and kilim rug cleaning in Al Barsha?
The MELLS provides dhurrie and kilim rug cleaning in Al Barsha, Dubai. The work is carried out by people The MELLS employs directly, under a named supervisor, 08:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday. To arrange it, book a site visit on this page or call +971 58 656 3001.
How long does dhurrie and kilim rug cleaning take?
Typically 1 to 3 hours for most homes, with carpets dry in 4 to 8 hours. The time for your property is confirmed with the quotation.
Will cleaning shrink or fade my wool rug?
Not when it is cleaned correctly. We use wool safe products, cool water and controlled drying, and we test the dyes first.
How often should carpets be cleaned in Dubai?
Every six months in homes, and every three months in offices or homes with pets and children. Sand is abrasive and wears the pile if it stays in.
Do you clean rugs at home or take them away?
Most rugs are cleaned at your home. Delicate silk and antique pieces can be collected for a controlled wash and returned.
How do your crews get access to Al Barsha?
Villas are on open streets. Towers in Barsha Heights and Al Barsha 1 need a work permit and a service lift booking, which we arrange.
How quickly can you reach Al Barsha?
Our office is in Barsha Heights, so urgent calls in Al Barsha are among the fastest we attend, usually well inside two hours.
How do I choose a company for dhurrie and kilim rug cleaning in Al Barsha?
Ask four things: who employs the people who will come, whether the scope is written down before work starts, how the result is checked, and what happens if something is missed. The MELLS uses its own staff, quotes in writing after a site visit, checks every job (14 Point Standard signed by the supervisor, with photographs before and after) and puts right any failed check free of charge within 48 hours.
Can you come to Al Barsha at short notice?
